Barking Dog Studios

The Canadian Council for the Advancement of Education (CCAE) has awarded Wilfrid Laurier University, Public Affairs the GOLD medal of excellence in the "Best e-innovation" category for the Laurier Virtual Tour.

The Barking Dog Team worked tirelessly on this project in 2008, with Tony Frost, WLU's Associate Director of Web & Graphic Services. Thanks Tony, for the awesome collaboration and the freedom to do something great.

This is what the judges had to say:
Wilfrid Laurier’s Laurier Virtual Tour is sure to keep visitors to the site returning. The content is well-balanced, easy to navigate and can be personalized to meet the specific needs of the target audiences. The streaming video, navigation options and contest are excellent examples of how potentially “flat” content can be dynamic and engaging.

Including W3C compliancy to the website design adds an especially dynamic element ensuring site content is accessible to all website visitors including those with disabilities (such as the blind or people with limited mobility). The judges felt this project is exemplary of the progress universities must make in leveraging technology for university advancement, successfully broadening audiences nationally and internationally.
